Licensing and Gambling

Niall undertakes all aspects of licensing and gambling and associated regulatory law. He regularly appears as an advocate before courts and local authority sub-committees throughout England and Wales. He also specialises in advising on the impact of insolvency in respect of licensed premises.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution

Niall handles a broad range of civil litigation, including contractual disputes, professional negligence claims, breach of warranty claims, judicial reviews, landlord and tenant disputes, Leasehold Valuation Tribunal applications and insolvency matters.

Recent Matters include:

  • Dealing with the licensing matters arising from a pre-pack sale of a major chain and bars which involved making approximately 75 applications in one day, drafting the due diligence report and negotiating the share purchase agreement.
  • Successfully defending a review application where the applicant was seeking to have the premises licence revoked.
  • Obtaining a new premises licence for a high profile venue in Covent Garden.
  • Securing a Validation Order for a large restaurant group to ensure that the business could continue to trade.
  • Successfully settling a professional negligence claim in respect of negligent advice given by an insolvency practitioner.
