Suzanne Davies

Suzanne trained with Field Fisher Waterhouse and gained experience in other notable firms specialising in licensing & gambling law before joining Joelson Wilson in 1998. She became a partner in 1999 and has been instrumental in establishing the reputation of the firm’s Licensing/Gambling Team as one of the UK’s leading practices in this area of the law.

Expertise

Suzanne specialises in all aspects of betting, gaming & lotteries law – both land-based and online/remote plus alcohol and entertainment licensing. Her practice extends to regulatory and criminal law expertise relevant to the gambling and leisure industries, covering health & safety and food safety matters, environmental & consumer protection issues and trading standards & advertising questions.

Her clients include leaders in the casino, bingo, betting (including spread betting), gaming machine, pub/bar, hotel, restaurant, cinema and nightclub fields. She has also been active in advising online/remote gambling and interactive TV operators since the early days of that industry in the 1990s, including in relation to licensing & regulatory questions arising from developments such as interactive television and mobile gambling.

Suzanne is a contributing editor to Smith & Monkcom, ‘Law of Gambling’, ‘Halsbury’s Laws of England: Betting, Gaming and Lotteries’ edition and Kolvin’s ‘Licensed Premises: Law and Practice’.
